Upcoming Events to Mark Your Calendars!

Guys, get ready because we have some truly amazing events coming up that you won't want to miss! We're kicking things off with our annual Summer Picnic, scheduled for Saturday, July 20th, at Willow Creek Park. This is always a highlight of the year, a chance for us all to come together, share some delicious food, and enjoy each other's company in a relaxed, fun-filled atmosphere. We'll have games for the kids, great music, and plenty of opportunities to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Please bring a dish to share – potluck style is always the best! Your culinary contributions are what make these events so special. Following that, we have our Charity Bake Sale on Sunday, August 4th, right after the 10 AM Mass in the parish hall. All proceeds from the bake sale will go towards supporting our local homeless shelter, a cause that is incredibly close to our hearts. If you have a knack for baking, we’d be thrilled if you could contribute some goodies. Even if baking isn't your forte, stop by and pick up a treat – it’s for a great cause! Looking ahead, we’re also excited about our Spiritual Retreat Weekend from September 13th to 15th. This is a wonderful opportunity for quiet reflection, prayer, and deepening your faith journey. Father Michael will be leading the sessions, and we’ll have guest speakers who are sure to inspire and uplift. Registration details and pricing will be available next week, so keep an eye on the parish website and our social media pages. We believe these events are crucial for building the bonds that make our parish so strong. They’re not just gatherings; they’re opportunities to live out our faith, to serve others, and to experience the joy of community. We really encourage everyone, young and old, to participate as much as possible. Your presence truly enriches these occasions, and we can’t wait to see you all there, sharing smiles and making memories together. It’s these shared experiences that forge lasting connections and strengthen the fabric of our parish family. Remember to check the bulletin boards and our website for any last-minute details or changes. We’re aiming to make this season a memorable one for everyone involved.

Ministry Spotlight: The Outreach Team

Let's take a moment to shine a bright spotlight on one of our most vital ministries: the Outreach Team. These dedicated individuals are the hands and feet of Our Lady of Compassion, actively working to serve those in need within our community and beyond. Their work is a testament to the true spirit of compassion that defines our parish. The Outreach Team is involved in a myriad of activities, from organizing food drives for local families facing hardship to coordinating visits for the homebound and elderly members of our parish. They are the ones who ensure that no one in our community feels forgotten or alone. Recently, they spearheaded a highly successful back-to-school drive, collecting essential supplies for over fifty children, ensuring they started the academic year with the tools they needed to succeed. Their commitment doesn't stop there. They also partner with local shelters to provide meals and clothing, and they actively seek out opportunities to assist individuals and families experiencing temporary crises. If you’ve ever wondered how you can get more involved in serving others, the Outreach Team is an excellent place to start. They are always looking for volunteers to help with their various initiatives. Whether you have a few hours a month to spare or can dedicate more time, your contribution would be invaluable. You can learn more about their current projects and how to join by contacting Sarah Jenkins, the team leader, via email at outreach@ourladyofcompassion.org. Imagine the impact we can have when we all pitch in! This team embodies the very essence of our parish's mission, extending God's love and mercy to those who need it most. Their tireless efforts often go unseen, but their impact is profound. They remind us all that faith in action is the most powerful form of witness. We are incredibly grateful for their selfless service and the tangible difference they make in so many lives. Their stories are often incredibly moving, highlighting the resilience of the human spirit and the power of kindness. We encourage everyone to consider how they might support the Outreach Team, whether through volunteering, donations, or simply spreading the word about their important work. Their passion and dedication are truly inspirational, and they are a cornerstone of our parish's charitable endeavors. Their ongoing work truly embodies the call to love our neighbors as ourselves, making a real and lasting difference.

Parish Life Updates and Announcements

Now, let's move on to some important parish life updates and announcements that will keep you in the know. Firstly, we want to extend a heartfelt welcome to our new parish administrator, Mr. David Lee. David joins us with a wealth of experience and a warm, friendly demeanor, and we are absolutely thrilled to have him on board. He will be managing the day-to-day operations of the parish office and will be a key point of contact for many of you. Please feel free to stop by the office and introduce yourselves; David is eager to meet everyone! We also have an update regarding our church renovations. The main sanctuary refurbishment is progressing smoothly, and we anticipate completion by the end of September. While this means some minor disruptions to our usual Mass schedules in the coming weeks, we appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to enhance our beautiful place of worship. Specific details about temporary Mass locations and times will be posted weekly in the bulletin and on our website. Your cooperation during this time is greatly appreciated. In other news, the Parish Council met last week and discussed several important initiatives for the upcoming year, including expanding our youth programs and exploring new ways to engage our seniors. We welcome your ideas and suggestions on these fronts! Please submit any thoughts to the parish office by the end of the month. Lastly, we want to remind everyone about the importance of our online giving platform. In today's world, digital donations offer a convenient and secure way to support the ongoing ministries and operations of Our Lady of Compassion. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to explore this option. You can find the link on our website homepage. Every contribution, big or small, makes a significant difference in our ability to serve the community and spread the Gospel.
